Automatic Formalin Dispensing for Complete Operator Safety
UltraSAFE is an innovative instrument for biospecimens which allows OR personnel and Perioperative Nurses to handle specimens in complete safety, with no exposure to formalin fumes. Through the one-way valve lid, UltraSAFE automatically dispenses formalin into specimen buckets utilizing an automatic injection system. The buckets are filled in an enclosed and vented chamber that eliminates operator exposure to formalin fumes. Formalin is dispensed based on specimen weight and specific lab guidelines.
Time to fixation, specimen weight, and exact formalin quantity are recorded on a printed label to ensure standardized documentation.

Standardized Fixative Dispensing
Through automated and controlled fixative dispensing, UltraSAFE allows for standardization of the biospecimen collection step.
UltraSAFE features a built-in scale that records the specimen weight at the beginning of the process. Based on the recorded weight, a pre-set amount of fixative is automatically dispensed in the bucket.
Upon completion, a label is printed out from UltraSAFE, recording all the process information. This allows users to accurately document fixation time and eliminate human error and discrepancies in the laboratory workflow.

The UltraSAFE built-in barcode reader allows for bucket recognition and hospital requisition form scanning before each process.
The bucket is associated with the patient case ID, to guarantee complete sample traceability and case matching.
At the end of the run, the label reports all the case information and can be easily printed and stuck to the bucket. The label fields can also be customized for complete and personalized standardization of each process.

Advanced Bucket Technology
UltraSAFE dedicated buckets are designed to accommodate your current pathology workflow. The buckets, available in five standard sizes (500mL, 1L, 3L, 5L e 10L), are equipped with a unique one-way valve built-in to the lid. This safety valve is specifically designed to prevent the escape of formalin fumes during operation, and, at the same time, it allows formalin dispensing using UltraSAFE’s automatic injection nozzle. An additional valve cap seals the bucket for extra safety during transportation.
Furthermore, on the bucket’s lid, a unique 2D barcode ensures biospecimen traceability. The UltraSAFE software associates the 2D barcode with the biospecimen ID number for full patient safety.
