The National Center of Pathology, a branch of Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos, is the largest tissue pathology diagnostic laboratory in Lithuania. The center performs around one third of all tissue pathology testing in the country, making it a critical hub for diagnostic medicine.

With a team of 20 specialized pathologists, the laboratory handles a high volume of complex cases every day. Their mission is clear: ensure accurate diagnoses while maintaining strict standards of safety, traceability, and workflow efficiency.

During intraoperative consultations, surgeons rely on pathologists for rapid answers. In these cases, the laboratory team must process a sample and deliver a diagnosis in approximately 20 minutes.

At the end of this process, the pathologist must answer a critical question for the surgical team: “Is it a tumor or not?”

Because surgeons are waiting for the result in real time, the workflow must be fast, precise, and error-free.
