Standardization

Standardization
In routine fixation practices, samples are placed in a container filled with fixative without monitoring time, temperature, type of fixative, pH or the frequency of formalin replacement. However, controlling these parameters during the pre-analytical phase is critical for establishing standardized protocols that ensure optimal fixation for different types of specimen.
FixSTATION 1RH is a game changer in this field, allowing for the standardization and documentation of both pre-soaking (without heating) and fixation (with heating) phases.

Programmability

Programmability
The user-friendly interface empowers operators to customize and store fixation protocols by specifying the type of fixative, selecting the temperature (up to 55°C), setting runs times, and tracking completion times. A temperature graph allows operators to monitor the temperature of the fixative, ensuring a safe process throughout. In addition, the smart reagent management system keeps users informed about reagent lifespan and issues timely alerts for replacements when needed.

Flexibility

Flexibility

FixSTATION 1RH is designed to work seamlessly with a wide range of fixatives and racks, including Milestone racks and those commonly used in conventional tissue processors from various manufacturers.
It operates in two process modes: non-heated for the pre-soaking step and heated for the fixation process. During both steps, the built-in magnetic stirrer maintains continuous exposure of the sample to fresh fixative solution. Particularly, during fixation, it promotes uniform heat distribution within the tank, resulting in superior and even heating of the reagents. Its compact footprint allows it to be installed in a grossing station or ventilated hood, ensuring safe and efficient formalin handling.

Full Documentation

FixSTATION 1RH documents every factor of the fixation process and stores it in a logbook that can be transferred to a USB stick and printed for quality assurance and compliance purposes. This includes:
  • Type of the fixative used
  • Time and Date of fixation run
  • Pre-soaking phase duration
  • Fixation phase duration and temperature
  • Event Log
  • Saved runs

Ease of Use

Step 1

Ease of Use - Step 1
Place the rack in the unit and enter the fixation protocol.

Step 2

Ease of Use - Step 2
After the process, extract the cage to filter the solution and trap any residue in the steel wire mesh filter.

Step 3

Ease of Use - Step 3
Eliminate excess reagent by placing the filtering cage on the built-in front hinges.

Step 4

Ease of Use - Step 4
Transfer the fixed samples to the processor and skip the fixation step.
